Brooks Selected for 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—New Jersey Nets guard MarShon Brooks has been selected to play in the 2012 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, February 24 as part of the 2012 NBA All Star Weekend at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
"This is a great honor for MarShon and the entire Nets organization," said Nets General Manager Billy King. "It is an honor that is well deserved, and we look forward to him building on his stellar play once he returns to the court."
Brooks, (6-5, 200), will join fellow rookies Kyrie Irving (CLE), Ricky Rubio (MIN), Brandon Knight (DET), Kawhi Leonard (SAS), Markieff Morris (PHX), Tristan Thompson (CLE), Kemba Walker (CHA) and Derrick Williams (MIN). The sophomores include Blake Griffin (LAC), DeMarcus Cousins (SAC), Landry Fields (NYK), Paul George (IND), Gordon Hayward (UTH), Greg Monroe (DET), Tiago Splitter (SAS), Evan Turner (PHI) and John Wall (WAS).
The former Providence Friar has appeared in 17 games, nine starts, while averaging 14.8 points (2nd among rookies) and 4.4 rebounds (8th among rookies) in 29 minutes (5th among rookies). He is shooting .459 (96-209) from the field (4th among rookies) and .774 (41-53) from the line (10th among rookies). Brooks has been sidelined for eight of the last nine games, three with a sore left Achilles and five with a broken little toe on his right foot.
